On May 2, 1981 my parents got married in East Texas, and today marks their 30th wedding anniversary. Last week they went on a cruise to celebrate and from what they told me they had a great time.
Now the point of this post wasn’t to brag about my parents’ successful marriage, but it was to bring some encouragement. My parents were in their late 20s when they got married. To some getting married at that age is a nightmare, but they always say if they would have met at a younger age the relationship probably wouldn’t have worked out.
I know some of you have all of these grandiose plans about your lives (married by 25, three kids by 30, etc) but maybe you shouldn’t be in rush to get married. Maybe you should be patient and pray that God sends you the right one AND you are have grown enough emotionally and spiritually to handle it.
My parents are why I really don’t sweat the marriage thing, in regards of having a sense of urgency. If I wait, pray, and be patient if it’s His will everything will come together, just like it did for my folks.
